Prepare the printer for first use.

Preparing Power, Ink Tanks, and Paper

Important

  • Do not connect a USB cable or Ethernet cable while preparing the printer.

  1. Check accessories.

    Make sure the accessories shown in the following illustration are supplied.

    Important

    • The Setup CD-ROM is for Windows only.

  2. Remove protective materials and turn on printer.

  3. Install ink tanks.

  4. Install print head.

    Important

    • While ink is being filled, definitely do not remove the ink tank or maintenance cartridge. Ink may leak out.

    • While ink is being filled, always follow the precautions below. Otherwise, ink filling may be interrupted and started over again, causing the printer to consume more ink.

      • Do not unplug the printer to turn off the power.
      • Do not open the tank cover.
      • Do not open the maintenance cover.
      • Do not move or lift up the printer.

  5. Load supplied specialty paper MP-101.

    • The loaded paper will be used for a test print.

    When the following screen appears, press the OK button.

    7. Connecting via USB

    1. Select USB connection and press OK button.

      Select connection method screen: Select USB connection

    2. Select Yes and press OK button.

      When the following screen appears, perform setup to make the printer ready for use.
      Set up a connection between the printer and computer, smartphone, or tablet, or install applications by referring to this site.

    Connecting via Wired LAN

    1. Select Wired LAN connection and press OK button.

    2. Select Yes and press OK button.

      When the following screen appears, connect the printer to a network device such as a router with an Ethernet cable.

    3. Press OK button.

      When the following screen appears, perform setup to make the printer ready for use.

    Connecting via Wireless LAN

    1. Select Wireless LAN connection and press OK button.
